In the time of Malachi the people of God are disappointed and they are disillusioned and even worse despairing; they're beginning to ask, was returning from excite even worth it? It's in this space that God speaks through His prophet. He begins to speak about the ideas of legacy and lineage. He speaks to their importance as links in the gospel chain and the future He has for all humanity.
