To be in the presence of God is to be near Him. The Hebrew word for presence actually means “to be face-to- face” with God. At Peniel Jacob said, “I have seen God face-to- face and yet my life has been delivered.”

So, what does it mean to be in the presence of God now that Jesus has ascended and the ark of the covenant has long since vanished from the earth? It is time to rediscover what James meant when he wrote, “Draw near to God.”
