Pastor MJ, Trudi and Family
Jenny Little is the Children’s Pastor at Man O War Church. She received this appointment in September of 2015. She grew up in the home of a pastor and began working with children at 13 years old. She married the love of her life, Rodney, at 19 and they have been married for 22 years. They have raised two wonderful sons, Alex (20) and DJ (18). The entire family is involved in children’s ministry.
Jenny’s education is an associate degree in early childhood development. She also studied at the Tallahassee Community College. She has completed a certificate of chaplain with the Church of God and is also a licensed minister of the Church of God. She has attended and been the speaker of many children’s ministry conferences. In addition to the ministry of children she travels speaking and equipping other children’s ministers and volunteers.
Jenny’s first job in ministry was at Words of Life in Tallahassee, FL (1995). She and Rodney had been married 1 year. She noticed the need for a children’s program and she started volunteering and helped start their children’s church services and children’s program.
After 4 years Rodney’s job, as a civil engineer for Florida’s Turnpike, lead them to central Florida in a little town next to Orlando called Clermont. When their new pastor at Celebration of Praise Church of God saw Jenny’s outgoing personality and learned of Jenny’s experience with children’s ministry he offered her a part time position as the children’s pastor. She lead a group of 25 kids and 6 leaders and within 1 year grew to 175 children and 35 volunteers. She worked her way into a full time position and became the children’s pastor and the director of the church’s preschool and childcare center. During this assignment Rodney began to volunteer and became the face and voice of many of the children’s church characters and puppets.
They continued there for more than 6 years then the Lord moved their ministry to Groveland, Florida where Jenny was appointed the full time children’s pastor of Hope International Church. Rodney continued volunteering, but also continued his job designing Florida’s Turnpike.
After 2 years of increase, she and her husband felt the need to return to their roots in Kentucky. They then became the full time Family/Children’s Pastor and the Business Manager of Covenant Community Church and Fun 4 Kidz in Madisonville, KY. After almost seven years they finally made their way home to Lexington.
By faith, the Little’s decided to leave the stability of well-paying jobs and (before jobs were available) they decided that they needed to relocate and move from Western KY to Lexington. The Littles knew that God wanted them in Lexington, but had no clue how they would provide for their family. They only knew it was God’s plan. After they were sure God wanted them in central Kentucky, Jenny called the KY C.O.G. State Executive Office to inform them that she was leaving her position in Madisonville. As soon as she told them they offered her a job in the state office. She accepted a position at the Church of God State Office and became the Youth and Discipleship Administrative Assistant. After they moved, Rodney took a position and became a business partner with Jenny’s brother in construction. He currently designs barns.
After almost two years of hard work at the state office, the Little’s finally reached their destination at Man O’ War Church. During Jenny’s work in administration she was able to develop great relationships with the ministers and the people of Kentucky. Among those relationships, was no doubt was Pastors Mitchell and MJ Tolle of the Man O’ War Church. It wasn’t long before both the Littles and Tolles realized that they were a perfect match for the children’s ministry at Man O War Church. It wasn’t hard to recognize this couple’s love for Lexington and the surrounding areas. It was easy to see that Jenny and her family have a great vision for the children and families of our community.
Jenny believes with all her heart that she was in the right place at the right time. Since she has been at Man O’ War Church there has already been great growth. She looks forward to the future and working with the families and children of her area. She knows that through great programs, outreach, and exciting opportunities that God is going to do great things through her ministry, the volunteers she leads, and the Man O’ War Church. She gives all Glory and honor to God and feels extremely privileged to have been anointed for this great appointment. She is certain it’s going to be an exciting future and looks forward to working with such amazing people.
